There are so many factors that need to be taken under consideration when trying to find the mattress that is best for you. Initial vs. longevity comfort; firm opposed to soft; expensive as to inexpensive. Don’t stress about it though. Before we begin, take a few deep breaths. Although choosing a mattress isn’t the biggest decision you will have to make your life, considering the amount of time you spend in bed, it is well worth your waking time to make sure you are choosing wisely. Our job is to help you figure out which bed is best for you. So we have compiled a list of key things that you should keep in mind when mattress shopping.
The 15 Minute Rule
As you may have read from us already — because we can’t stress it enough — make sure that you lay on the mattress you think you want to buy for at least 15 minutes. And lay on it in the same way that you actually sleep. If you feel comfortable and don’t want to get up after 15 minutes, then that is a good sign that the mattress will be good for you.
Whenever you go on vacation, visit a friend or family member’s house, or any other time that you are sleeping on a mattress other than your own, pay attention to how you feel when you wake up. We have people call us asking if we have certain beds because they spent the weekend away from home at a hotel and woke up every morning feeling great. If you’ve slept amazingly, find out why.
Listen to What Other People are Saying
Reviews can be very, very helpful when it comes to shopping for a mattress. But you have to remember that just because someone else loves it, does not automatically make it the mattress that you need. Either way, try typing in the name of the mattress you are interested in purchasing into the Google bar and see what other people think about the product. This is simply to give you an idea of what to expect.
Look for the “Sleep Comfort” Deals
15 minutes is good; 60 days is better. If you find a store that will allow you to “try out” the mattress without any additional fees, do it. Trust me, they exist. Ours is one of them. You will most likely have to use a mattress protector that they provide (mattress protectors are recommended anyway) and most places will not give a money refund, but will give credit to the store. This is the best thing to do to get the mattress that best fits you.
So take all of these things into consideration and get going. Good luck! And remember, we are here to help you find what is best for you personally.
